Foundation of Basaran was laid by Yakup Başaran in Trabzon in 1930. This initiative starting with hazelnut trade made Basaran become a factory in 1954. Başaran became one of the first hazelnut exporters in Turkey. Başaran Gıda which was handed over to Faruk Başaran in the second generation became one of the leading hazelnut companies in Turkey.

It got into the foreign market and foundations of Başaran Gıda integrated facilities of today were laid. Hüseyin Başaran handing over the duty in 1995 wasn’t satisfied with only making Başaran Gıda become the cutting-edge integrated hazelnut processing facility in Turkey, but it enabled Başaran Group to grow through investments in 7 sectors as yachting, finance, construction, lodging, aviation and energy as well as food sector.
